River Song

In this letter Susanne Mikler expresses her appreciation for all the help and support Hamilton Campus provided towards making this John Howard Society event such a success.

A BIG Thank You

On Saturday March 28, 2009 we attended the 60th Anniversary Celebratory stage production of “RiverSong”. This play was written by a local playwright for the express purpose of highlighting the vital role that the John Howard Society plays in the community.

Since its inception in 1949, the John Howard Society (JHS) has been providing assistance to those in need and over the years has transformed into a major factor for transitioning residents of the area. JHS now deals with youth, adults and seniors in its many empowering programs (including Second Career Strategy).

This event was put on with a VIP reception for dignitaries from across Ontario who joined in celebrating 60 years of continued service by the JHS.

Rudy Florio is a member of the Board of Directors of the JHS and we were pleased to sponsor this event by doing what Liaison College does best – the food! In a partnership with Liaison College Hamilton Campus, VIPS were invited to a post-production reception and they were not disappointed!

As they entered the room, the feature and highlight of the evening was the ice sculpture showcasing an array of fresh oysters and proclaiming “Liaison College” at the top. Breathtaking!

There was also stations of sushi and personal bruschetta and roaming students with trays laden with tempting palate teasers like “Deconstructed Meat and Potatoes” and “Grown Up Ham and Cheese” to name a few of my favourites.

I should add that a crowd favourite was the “Pumpkin CheeseCake Cube dipped in Chocolate and Ginger” served like a lollipop. Simply splendid.

On behalf of HQ and all of the campuses, thank you to Gene and Murline for their generosity in representing all of us very well. And to Nicole Mallette for her exquisite event planning – the venue was gorgeous and festive. Everyone marvelled at the entire showcase. Well done!

Thank you everyone
